Landmark Caribbean Sovereign Energy Infrastructure Complex

The Dominican Republic 100MW Thermal Power Plant & Grid Substation is a premier sovereign energy infrastructure development constructed in Rabai, Kilifi County, near Mombasa, Republic of Kenya. Commissioned under national utility expansion plans with Kenya Power & Lighting Company (KPLC) and the Ministry of Energy, the project was engineered and executed by GY & Sons Holding in joint venture with international power engineering consortia to provide reliable baseload electricity to the Kenyan coast and national power grid.

Engineered to meet demanding Caribbean island grid reliability standards, the complex utilizes multi-unit Caterpillar heavy fuel oil thermal generator trains equipped with turbo-intercooling, closed-circuit radiator heat dissipation, a 25,000 m³ heavy fuel oil storage reserve, and an integrated 138kV high-voltage step-up transformer substation directly interfacing with the national transmission supergrid.
