Ashgabat, Turkmenistan | Major 46.9 km Capital Arterial Highway, Dual 2x2 Carriageway, Secondary Feeder Network & 3 Elevated Interchange Viaduct Bridges
The Ashgabat Candibil Highway & Expressway Network represents one of Turkmenistan's flagship capital urban redevelopment civil engineering achievements. Built to modernize and streamline traffic circulation throughout the capital city of Ashgabat, the comprehensive infrastructure contract comprised 24.5 km of 2x2 dual-lane main arterial expressway, 22.4 km of secondary feeder side roads, and 3 grade-separated elevated interchange bridges.
Executed under a high-priority state development mandate by GY & Sons Holding in joint venture with strategic international engineering partners (KlasTeknik Consortia), the project scope covered full earthworks, subbase compaction, multi-layer bituminous asphalt surfacing, storm drainage installation, LED avenue lighting, and bridge viaduct construction.
24.5 km 2x2 dual carriageway expressway + 22.4 km secondary feeder roads.
4,405,742 m³ cut excavation and heavy structural backfill embankment compaction.
Heavy-duty multi-layer asphalt base, binder, and wearing surface course paving.
Grade-separated elevated interchange viaduct bridges ensuring uninterrupted traffic flow.
The structural construction and road formation relied on precise geotechnical soil stabilization and certified bituminous paving formulations executed according to international highway standards:
| Construction Works Category | Certified Volume / Tonnage | Engineering Function |
|---|---|---|
| Earthworks & Embankment Fill | 4,405,742 m³ | Site clearing, heavy cut excavation, and multi-layer structural subgrade embankment backfill. |
| Plant-Mix Subbase Granular Layer | 630,000 m³ | Dense-graded crushed stone base layer prepared in automated mixing plants for load distribution. |
| Bituminous Base Course | 315,668 Tons | Heavy-duty structural asphalt base layer designed to resist heavy vehicle axle loads. |
| Binder Asphalt Layer | 150,469 Tons | Interlocking intermediate asphalt binder course bridging base and surface wearing course. |
| Bituminous Surface Wearing Layer | 174,906 Tons | High-friction, skid-resistant premium asphalt surface wearing course for maximum safety. |
| Interchange Viaduct Structures | 3 Complex Viaducts | Post-tensioned reinforced concrete bridge spans and elevated multi-directional ramps. |
